The wonder of bird feathers…..

Did you know that…….

Feathers supply the bird with colors for sexual characteristics and display? A peacock’s multi-coloured feathers are used to attract the opposite gender. Even birds are not so different from us….
Also for the obvious reason of camouflage, a bird’s feathers can be used to hide from its enemies.
Feathers also act as sunscreen for the birds as they protect them from UV light, a cheap option compared to buying sunscreen……
If you believe in the theory of evolution, feathers actually evolved from the scales of reptiles. Up to date birds still posses the scales on their feet and lower parts of their legs!
